Based on the work of psychologist Gary Chapman, in this workshop we explore the five basic ways that children
recognize, express and receive love. After becoming acquainted with the five languages, we will learn how to
identify the language(s) that your child speaks, as well as your own. Then we will discover the ways that a "communication gap"
may be affecting your child, creating a disruption in the flow of love to and from your child and how that may be negatively
affecting him or her as evidenced by negative emotions and behavior.
Taking it a step further, we will explore how this disruption in love is "wounding" to the child and contributes
to a compromised immune system and susceptibility to various childhood illnesses.
Finally, we will look at the various ways that communication of love with your child can be enhanced and supported,
as well as how to model self-love and self-nurturance. These practices will help your child develop a strong
core identity and good boundaries and ultimately foster his or her ability to practice loving compassion to self and others.
